Nation game anyone?
« on: October 21, 2014, 07:23:15 pm »
Well, i'd say it's been quiet enough here for long enough; Anyone up for a "Nation-building" game?

Suggested Ideas

Q: But, i've never played a "nation game" before, what is it?

A: Nation-building games place you in control of your own nation of a map, with other players and (most likely) "Bots" or other nations controled by the Game Moderator (GM).

Q: But, I either can't draw or am limited in what I can draw.

A: No Problem! One of the many wonderful things about a game like this is that you can trade with other players, or you will be able to pick from pre-selected units by the GM.

So, i think we have enough active members to guve this a try (if not, we can always try to get the NSF guys to give it a try (many still have accounts here btw....)

Any suggestions for a setting, plot, etc. Would be useful

I made a Hex map world, with the scale being: 1 Hex=7-9 hexes (this depends due to the way the map was made)

Idea for Military: Vehicle classes.
Something like this:
Grunt [gruhnt];
Term of Affection
The dirty, smelly, foot sore, camo painted, tired, beautiful sonofabitch, who has kept the wolf away from the door for more than 200 years.

And on the 8th day, the lord created the Infantry, and all hell stood at attention.

wait until they post a map, then claim a piece of land. If no one's already claimed it it's yours (least that's how it's always worked in the past)

I say we do something like Civ's Beyond earth. We all pick a Sponsor ( nation or Corp)an go from there. We would start out with one small settlement to start with and gradually build up to span contients and so on or so forth

(Sorry guys, I've been busy with moving to my new apartment all weekend..)

Actually, I like that idea. Though I don't know enough about scifi tech or resources for that time..

Technically the map was posted in the first post. I still have to do a cartography-style map of it. As a Hex map, it tends to "Distort" the world so to speak.

I'm still figuring out ideas for this (like whether to use civ-inspired mechanics, use the political points systems of RD, Trade ideas of Tropico, Kelsi's unit idea, etc.)

Options for Setting As of 11:16Am Central time 10/27/2014

-Modern-like HALO setting-
-Civ's Beyond Earth: the forum Game-
- 1965-1995 timeline-

Not sure if i can Get a poll in this topic. Also, after deciding the setting, it'll take some time for me to set up my resources (like pre-made units for example)
